Lord of the Rings
The most powerful elves in Middle-earth: Fingolfin, Fëanor, Galadriel...
The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ premieres Thursday, September 29 on Prime Video.
J. R. R. Tolkien’s Elves are the oldest fantasy creatures in the world, and they are immortal. Also known as the Firstborn, they do not age like the rest of mortals. Their physical development is much slower, but mentally they are faster than humans, with only one year they are able to walk and talk. However, if we refer to appearance, elves reach their final appearance at the age of 50 (some look like a young man) and their growth continues until they reach the age of 100.
These creatures, in turn, possess traits that are superior to others, such as the ability to recover from wounds very quickly, their great vision, or the ability to not suffer from disease. But who are the most powerful elves in Middle-earth? When we talk about the most powerful elves, we must consider Ingwe, the supreme king of the Vanyar and considered the supreme king of all elves, no one among the elves had more power. This transcended all the trivialities of the world, so he never returned to Middle-earth.
Fëanor must also occupy an important place, the most powerful of the Ñoldor, creator of the Silmaris and one of the Elven relatives who came from Valinor to the land of Aman. He was so powerful that his mother died in childbirth. Another key name is Princess Lúnthien, a maiden of Doriath who is half Maiar, giving her great power. However, she was always recognized as part of the elven race and not the higher beings. In addition to her great power, she was also very beautiful.
The greatest Elf in history is undoubtedly Galadriel, a Nold Elf from the Years of Trees who came to Middle-earth. Her courage and wisdom make her an indispensable figure in this list. She possessed a ring that no one but Sauron had the courage to face, and she alone had the ability to destroy one of the villains’ strongholds.
One of the most beloved elves in Tolkien’s works is the brave Fingolfin. He was a protagonist in some of the most important victories, he had the courage to challenge Morgoth and unleash an epic and unprecedented battle between them. Of course, Fingolfin dies, but it is implied that this is due to fatigue and that his powers have been matched.
Considered by many to be the strongest elf, another of the most powerful is Glorfindel. He was an amazing warrior, full of wisdom and courage. Capable of dying and coming back to life, he was victorious in almost all the battles he fought. Nor can we leave without mentioning Thingol, one of the first elves to be born near the Water of Awakening in the Lagoon of Cuiviénen. The only being in history who was able to fall in love with a Maiar, but who had two defects that led to his death.
