FIFA

The new FIFA is on its way, will be exclusive to Netflix, and will arrive before the 2026 World Cup

Delphi Interactive is responsible for developing and publishing the game exclusively for the streaming service.

Update:

In 2023, FIFA president Gianni Infantino assured us that the brand would always have “the best soccer game for any boy or girl.” We would have news “soon.” Two years later, we are still here, with no strong rival to EA SPORTS FC and with fairly minor games announced, such as FIFA Heroes.

Another FIFA game is on the way. Although it’s not what you might expect, the parties involved are surprising. Netflix Games has partnered with Delphi Interactive to launch a game ahead of the 2026 World Cup. It will be exclusive to the streaming platform, and all you’ll need is a mobile device to enjoy it. “We want to bring football back to its roots with something everyone can play with just the touch of a button,” explains Alain Tascan, president of Netflix Games.

Those involved in Netflix’s new FIFA game

If it’s already surprising that Netflix has signed a deal with FIFA for a game, and that it’s an exclusive one at that, it’s even more surprising when you see the team that’s going to develop it. Delphi Interactive has zero experience as developers. On their website, they have just one message to send out to the world: “Delphi builds AAA games based on the most desirable IP franchises in the world.”

It was founded in 2020, and the first major project it has been involved in is 007 First Light, but in this case as a kind of publisher. “Delphi licenses global franchises and partners with elite developers to finance and co-publish AAA video games better and faster,” they explain.

This major collaboration is a key milestone in FIFA’s commitment to innovation in the football gaming space, which aspires to reach billions of football fans of all ages everywhere in the world and will be redefining the pure notion of simulation games,” Infantino said in a press release. “It will be available for free to Netflix members and is a great historic step for FIFA.”
