Minecraft is expanding new ways to interact with the game world.

Update:

Mojang has announced a major expansion to the leash feature of Minecraft. With this update, players will not only be able to tether individual mobs, as was previously possible, but will also be able to connect multiple creatures together or even to a wider variety of in-game objects.

As detailed in the official Minecraft blog, this improvement will open up a number of creative and practical possibilities. Imagine being able to control multiple horses at once to transport resources more efficiently, or the fun option of using straps to turn friendly, happy ghasts into impromptu hot air balloons.

While the ability to tie a leash to a fence has been available for some time, the update brings significant improvements to the handling of this feature. It will be much more intuitive to add and remove leashes from knots, and those players who wish to free a specific creature from a tethered group will be able to do so by simply using scissors. It is important to note that these new features will not apply to other players, nor will it be possible to use scissors on other players’ leashes.

All these new features in the leash system are already available for testing in the Java Edition version of Minecraft and will soon arrive in the Bedrock Edition realms on Xbox, Windows, Android and iOS, Mojang reported. However, an official release date for the feature to reach all users has not yet been announced.

How can I experiment with Minecraft’s new mechanics?

For those interested in experimenting with these new mechanics, Minecraft: Java Edition players will need to enable “snapshots” and install them from the game’s launcher. As for the Bedrock Edition, it will be necessary to opt for the beta or trial version and download the specific versions. Mojang warns that playing in these test versions may corrupt the main world, so it is recommended to make a backup or use a different save folder for testing.
