The new Pirates of the Caribbean movie now has a date to start filming, but Johnny Depp won’t be in it
The new Pirates of the Caribbean movie is set to start filming soon enough, but now there’s confirmation that Captain Jack Sparrow won’t return.
One of the most beloved franchises in the film industry is ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ ‚and its return could be closer than we think with a new film already with a confirmed filming date, although we now know that it won’t feature who has undoubtedly been the face of the series: Johnny Depp.
This was revealed by journalist Jordan Ruimy from World of Reel, which highlighted having received a production schedule that indicates a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie without a name yet set to start production at the end of 2025 in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the same country where the original movies were filmed.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer commented at the beginning of 2024 that the franchise itself will have more than one reboot, highlighting that “they are two different films. We hope they make both, and I think Disney agrees that they also want to make the Margot Robbie one.” Therefore, rumors indicate that one of the films will be a reboot with a completely new cast, while another will have connections to the rest of the saga and will focus on women, with Margot Robbie in the leading role.
Johnny Depp, the soul of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’
When ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ comes to mind, the first thing we think about and imagine is the charismatic Captain Jack Sparrow, the character played by Johnny Depp who became an icon of his time and is still relevant today. Can a saga so linked to an actor and character survive without him?
