The next Hellboy movie gets its first trailer, teasing a turn to full R-rated horror
Hellboy: The Crooked Man, a new live-action movie about the titular character, has just released its first trailer.
Big Red is coming back, although in a very different kind of movie than what we’ve grown accustomed to. Hellboy: The Crooked Man has just received its first trailer, and while we’re still not getting a definitive release date, the preview does give us a bit of an insight as to what to expect.
Taking over the role of Hellboy from Ron Perlman and David Harbour is Jack Kesy, who’ll be portraying a younger version of the character. The movie takes place in the 1950s, which means that the half-demon wouldn’t have been too active or experienced yet in the BPRD, so while some action is expected, The Crooked Man is actually closer to a horror film with plenty of supernatural themes.
The official synopsis reads as follows: “In the 1950s, Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent, stranded in rural Appalachia, discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: The Crooked Man.”
Kesy, who is better known for his role as Black Tom Cassidy in Deadpool 2 and Gabriel Bolivar in The Strain, will be joined in the character’s second reboot by Jefferson White, Adeline Rudolph, Joseph Marcell, Leah McNamara, Hannah Margetson, and Martin Bassindale.
