The next Resident Evil movie is rumored to be getting ‘Barbarian’ director to helm the adaptation

Resident Evil Zero could be getting its first big-screen adaptation, and rumors suggest the one responsible could be the director of Barbarian, Zach Cregger.

Rumors about Resident Evil 9 circulate daily on social networks, as do those who point out that at some point, Capcom will bet on remakes of installments like Resident Evil CODE: Veronica. But what about the big screen? Well there are rumblings about a new film in the making rumored to be called ‘Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles’ and the name of its possible director is already on the table: Zach Cregger.

Cregger is the director of ‘Barbarian’, a horror film that was released in 2022 and quickly became one of the biggest surprises in the film industry thanks to a series of disturbing interconnected stories that converge in the basement of a rental house. The American filmmaker is currently working on ‘Weapons’, a horror film starring Pedro Pascal which will arrive in 2026, so it seems that work is starting to pile up for the filmmaker.

As for the new Resident Evil movie, the most interesting thing is that It will supposedly be an adaptation of Resident Evil Zero, the title that debuted exclusively on Nintendo GameCube and serves as a prequel to the entire Capcom series since the story takes place before the events that occurred at the Spencer Mansion during the original Resident Evil. At the moment there are no details about its release date.
