The official ‘He-Man’ movie sword-drink vessel is as original as it is chaotic: one of the most surreal promos in history
‘Masters of the Universe’ will have an official sword-glass in theaters, and many viewers are already fearing the worst.

‘Masters of the Universe’ marks the highly anticipated return to the big screen of one of the most iconic characters of the 1980s. The film has been the talk of the town since the release of its trailers, but now a unique piece of merchandise from the movie has gone viral: its cinema drink cup. It’s the hero’s sword, whose hilt can be removed so you can drink from inside the blade. Its design—or rather, the sheer impracticality of the invention—has already sparked a viral storm on social media, and some are predicting all sorts of incidents in theaters.
Not a cup or a sword, but both: that’s just how outlandish the “drink vessel” for ‘Masters of the Universe’ is
On May 8, the X account for Cinemark Theatres, exclusively revealed what the drink vessel for ‘Masters of the Universe’—which premieres on June 5—looks like. The clip in question went viral because of how eye-catching this unique piece of merchandise is: it’s He-Man’s legendary Power Sword, whose hilt can be unscrewed to reveal its hollow interior—the cavity of the blade itself serves as the container that we can fill with our favorite soda.

Given their unique design, some people are already fearing the worst and haven’t hesitated to comment on the original post. On the one hand, there are those who point out that selling these fake swords could be interpreted as an “invitation” to provoke others with a clean strike. On the other hand, there’s no shortage of people who’ve pointed out the obvious: using the “glass” as intended greatly increases the chance of spilling the drink or accidentally hitting another spectator.
Furthermore, given the shape and length of the container, it cannot be placed in the cup holders of the seats, so users will have to hold onto it for the entire movie—which sounds like it would be extremely uncomfortable. And last but not least, the inside is extremely difficult to clean, so repeated use is not recommended due to the buildup of bacteria and other microorganisms. Use and throw away... or simply use it as a decoration, nothing more.

This promotional item accompanying the film’s release is similar in spirit to others we’ve seen with recent releases, such as the Yoshi egg-shaped popcorn bucket from ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ (2026) or the Woody and Buzz popcorn bucket from the 30th anniversary of ‘Toy Story’. However, many have raised a fuss about where to draw the line with these “cups” and “popcorn buckets” that are designed to visually and thematically tie in with certain major releases. While some appreciate the effort put into these details, the most critical voices consider them a waste of money and something that can disrupt movie screenings.
