The only actor to die at the hands of the three action movie stars: Schwarzenegger, Stallone and Willis

This famous actor has the honor of being the only actor to die at the hands of the three biggest stars of the 80’s in three major blockbusters.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Sylvester Stallone Bruce Willis Robert Patrick

There are three names that dominated Hollywood action movies in the 80’s and 90’s: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis. Three names that transcended their own medium to become part of popular culture. Their roles in such mythical sagas as ‘Terminator’, ‘Conan’, ‘Rocky’, ‘Rambo’ or ‘Die Hard’ - among many other iconic films, the three even appearing together in the ‘The Expendables’ franchise - were key to being considered the great ambassadors of the genre for decades. But there are other actors whose roles as villains were crucial to their success. This is the case of Robert Patrick, the only actor to have the distinction of dying at the hands of Schwarzenegger, Stallone and Willis in three different films.

Robert Patrick and his Hollywood villain roles

After becoming one of the best athletes at his university, Robert Patrick decided that athletics was not part of his future, so at the age of 26, he headed to Hollywood in search of an acting career. And after several small roles, he finally got his big break as a villain against many other candidates - thanks in part to his outstanding physical condition - taking on the role of the mercenary O’Reilly in 1990’s ‘Die Hard 2′, a character who eventually succumbed to Bruce Willis.

This role gave him the opportunity to play the antagonist in the 1991 blockbuster ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’. Playing the role of the liquid metal cyborg T-1000, Patrick was able to put Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 on the ropes, earning acclaim for his performance as the relentless, shape-shifting antagonist. Finally, Patrick fell to Sylvester Stallone in 1997’s ‘Cop Land’, when Freddy Heflin took him out with a shotgun in his hand. A resume Patrick is particularly proud of.

So the actor admitted in a 2008 interview with Den of Geek, in which Patrick celebrated falling to Hollywood’s Big Three: “It is, but let me give you a little extra badge of honour. Ready for this? First I was killed by Bruce Willis, Schwarzenegger, then Stallone. And in ‘Charlie’s Angels 2′, I was killed by the former Mrs. Bruce Willis,” referring to Demi Moore. “They all get their shots at me. Someday…someday, maybe I won’t get killed” Patrick admitted with a smile.

As a curiosity, in recent times he also fell victim to Peacemaker in his series for DC, although we will have to wait to see if John Cena ends up joining such a select club of Hollywood action stars.
