The original ending for ‘Alien’ killed off Ellen Ripley, but it was changed because of this reason
Could anything actually survive being hunted by a Xenomorph? The original Alien was set to show the entire crew die, but something caused a change.
The perfect organism annihilates all its victims. That was the original idea of Ridley Scott to ‘Alien’, a film that has become a science fiction and horror classic. Lieutenant Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is one of the crew members of the ship Nostromo. When they travel back to Earth, they wake up from their cryogenic sleep because the ship’s artificial intelligence detects a distress call. It is during the rescue mission that the Xenomorph sneaks inside. From that moment on, the Alien kills everyone, but Ripley manages to escape. However, the director intended for her not to survive either.
Fox executives didn’t like that dark ending, so they demanded from the director that Ripley be saved from her atrocious fate.. They even threatened to fire him if he refused to do so. Fortunately, the filmmaker agreed, since Ripley has gone down in history as one of the most powerful action heroines in cinema, a true legend.
This was Ripley’s death
At the end of ‘Alien’ only Ripley is still alive. After activating the ship’s self-destruct mechanism, the lieutenant begins an agonizing race in her attempt to save herself. He manages to reach an escape capsule and abandon the Nostromo just as it explodes into a thousand pieces. However, he discovers to his horror that the creature is inside him, so a fight to the death ensues between the Xenomorph and Ripley. In the final version, the protagonist fires a hook at the beast and expels it into deep space, while In the alternative version the weapon had no effect on the Alien, so Ellen Ripley’s days were ending at that moment.
