The PS5 30th Anniversary special edition line is already sold out, and scalper prices are insane
It only took minutes for the new PS5 and PS5 Pro special 30th Anniversary editions to sell out, and now they’re going for 10 times their original price in resale.
It’s not happy news, but everyone could see it coming. With only 12,300 units available for the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary limited edition, people were going to scramble to get one before the scalpers did their thing. Unfortunately, it was only minutes before the pre-order page completely sold out of all of its products.
With an MSRP of $999, the special edition console is now entirely sold out. And already scalpers are offering the bundles for ridiculous prices on Ebay:
At the time of writing, only hours after the pre-orders went live, auctions for the different consoles are going for anything from 3 to 10 times the price, and rising. Some are even asking for over $10,000 USD to obtain the pre-order. It is an outrage that once again puts users seeking to do business with an extremely limited and coveted product at the center of controversy. Logical, taking into account the relevance of this nod to the history of PlayStation and the number of products that the PS5 Pro package contained:
This scalping is also affecting every other product in the special edition line. The limited edition DualSense EDGE can be found at around $500, double its original price. The same happens with the base version of the controller, with prices amounting to more than $200. The madness to get one of these products has officially broken out.
