The PS5 now sounds better than ever thanks to its latest update: these are all the changes

PlayStation 5 is now compatible with Dolby Atmos devices, but the latest patch brings many more features and updates to the console.

PS5 Pro

The beta of the next PS5 update has come to fruition and the Japanese company has announced some of the new features that have been implemented in the most recent patch. In addition to new accessibility options, Sony’s next-generation console has been strengthened and now supports Dolby Atmos, adding new sound options to enjoy 3D audio technology. Beyond that, several brand-new social features have been revealed.

From now on, PS Remote Play will be compatible with the Android TV 12 operating system. On the other hand, the verified devices are Chromecast with Google TV (4K model) and the Bravia XR A95L model.

Although voice commands have been improved, these changes only apply to the United States and the United Kingdom. Regarding the news of the PS App on iOS and Andorid, PlayStation has reported that players will be able to react to messages with emojis and preview when sharing a screen with another user before joining the group in the app.

  • System UI Haptic Feedback. You now have the option to turn on haptic feedback effects while navigating your PS5 with your DualSense controller, DualSense Edge controller, or PS VR2 Sense controller.

Support for compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled audio devices

3D Audio powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech can now be enjoyed by those who own compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled HDMI devices such as soundbars, TVs or home theater systems. Tempest 3D AudioTech specifically renders to the Dolby Atmos audio device in use – including overhead channels – allowing for even greater levels of immersion in the audioscapes of PS5 games.

  • Join friends’ game sessions easily. You can now easily see which of your friends are in an activity you can join under the [Friends] tab.
  • Game Hub tournaments tile. In the game hub, you can now see how many tournaments you’ve entered and the highest place you’ve achieved, as well as the start time for the next tournament. You can select the tile to see the full tournament list.
