The PS5 Pro’s design has reportedly leaked, alongside a supposed release window
Recent leaks seem to point at the existence and inevitable release of a “PlayStation 5 Pro”, with a PlayStation Showcase presentation set for this month.
For months now, some media outlets have reported on the existence of PS5 Pro, an even more powerful model of Sony’s current generation console. Internal documents have already been leaked, so the existence of the project has never been in question. It seems that in recent days, details about this model have begun to emerge more frequently. Now, the well-known insider Bilbil-kun, who usually offers accurate information about PlayStation, has published an illustration of the PS5 Pro, which looks very similar to the original model.
Based on this information, the console could be launched as a digital only model, since the company wants to adjust costs. In the same article, the possibility is suggested that the console allows an external disc unit to be attached, as has already been done with the PlayStation 5 Slim. At the moment, the Japanese company has not confirmed or denied any of this information. It is assumed that the reveal will take place at a PlayStation Showcase, which should take place in the first half of September, according to Bilbil-kun.
According to bilbil-kun’s illustration, the hardware will be white, with two USB-C ports and a power button located on the front. Otherwise, the design is very similar to that of the PS5, except for the lines on its casing. The DualSense controller will not present changes neither in its appearance nor in its specifications.
A generation marked by the microprocessor crisis
The first information about the existence of PS5 Pro came to light in 2023. This generation, however, has suffered the ravages of the microprocessor crisis, a problem that prevented the machines from being in stores, so A general shortage situation occurred. In the end, PlayStation decided to raise the prices of its consoles. Meanwhile, the Japanese company also launched a Slim model, lighter and more compact.
Like PS4 Pro, the games on the new machine will be eligible for a special seal, through which it will be reported that the title in question incorporates graphics and performance improvements. Its technical specifications leaked, although this is quite old news. We will have to wait for it to become official.
