Update:

Stranger Things’ has just released the first volume of its fifth and final season, and anticipation is at fever pitch among millions of fans around the world. That’s why Ross Duffer, co-creator of the famous Netflix series alongside his brother Matt Duffer, wanted to share the best settings for a modern TV to enjoy the new episodes of Stranger Things in the highest possible quality. According to Ross Duffer, today’s televisions offer so many options that it is difficult to find the ideal settings for each case. Until now, that is, if we follow the steps outlined by the screenwriter and producer.

This is the ideal setup for watching ‘Stranger Things’

Ross Duffer has recorded a video focusing on his own television explaining the steps to take to enjoy the best quality when watching his series, ensuring that, first and foremost, we must check that all the “junk” activated by default by the manufacturers themselves is completely disabled. And by junk, he means options such as dynamic contrast, super resolution, color filters, and noise reduction.

Ross Duffer believes that to enjoy the best experience with Stranger Things, we should disable all the expert mode settings on the most advanced televisions on the market. This includes “the worst offender of all, truemotion or smoothmotion,” in order to avoid “the dreaded soap opera effect.” On the other hand, Ross Duffer assures us that activating cinema mode or Dolby Vision solves many of the main image problems, although he encourages us to continue playing around with other options:

“Whatever you do, do not switch anything on ‘vivid’ because it’s gonna turn on all the worst offenders. It’s gonna destroy the color and it’s not the filmmaker’s intent,” concludes the showrunner of ‘Stranger Things,’ referring in part to his brother Matt, who has personally directed three of the first four episodes of this latest season of ‘Stranger Things,’ with the fourth being directed by renowned filmmaker Frank Darabont.
