The reason why Clove is disabled in Valorant professional

Soon after their release, VALORANT’s newest agent has been taken off competitive play due to a gamebreaking bug.

The reason why Clove is disabled in Valorant professional

VALORANT’s newest agent, Clove, brought a wave of anticipation and excitement upon their release on March 26, 2024. However, to the dismay of fans and professional players alike, Clove has been disabled in competitive modes due to a critical bug, as announced by Riot Games.

“Due to a recently discovered bug with Clove, the Agent’s eligibility for International League competition will be put on hold,” says the official anouncement on the Valorant Esports twitter account. “Previously the agent was scheduled to enter competition for Week 2 of Stage 1. We are working hard to get them into play as soon as we can and will follow up with an update on when they will be playable.”

While Riot Games has not disclosed the specific nature of the bug causing Clove’s disablement, speculation within the community suggests it might be related to synchronization issues with their smoke ability. This desynchronization happens slightly after its casting animation, and poses a significant gameplay hurdle that must be addressed before Clove can be reintroduced into competitive play.

The VALORANT Trickster is a force to be reckoned with

The absence of Clove in professional matches has left fans eagerly awaiting updates from Riot Games regarding the resolution of this issue. Given Riot’s typically prompt response to game-breaking bugs, players can expect a patch to address this matter around April 9, in line with the developer’s update cadence.

Despite the setback, Clove has already proven to be a formidable force in casual play, blending elements of both Duelist and Controller roles with their unique abilities. Clove’s toolkit, boasting abilities such as Ruse, Meddle, Pick-me-up, and Not Dead Yet, offers a diverse array of offensive and supportive options. Yet, until the bug preventing their competitive play is resolved, players will have to wait patiently to witness Scottish agent’s professional debut.
