Jeremy Renner wasn’t exactly thrilled with the idea that Robert Downey Jr.’s return was kept a surprise to the rest of the Avengers group chat, it would seem.
The return of Robert Downey Jr. to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom came as a huge surprise for everyone, even the other Avengers. According to Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the MCU), this announcement was made with massive amounts of secrecy. So much so, that none of the other original Avengers had an idea: neither Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, or Renner himself knew. And this didn’t sit well with him.

In an interview with US Magazine, Jeremy Renner spoken at length about Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Renner himself confessed “I had no idea. This son of a bitch didn’t say anything to me, and we’re good friends”.
The actor says that as soon as Robert Downey Jr.’s return to Marvel began to make headlines, he started “blowing up” the group chat that they have with the rest of the original Avengers. “I’m like, ‘What’s going on? Are you hiding this from us?’ I don’t know. That’s exciting news, man. I’m really, really excited about it.”
It’s not exactly anger as much as the massive surprise from his co-star keeping such a huge secret even from their confidant group of fellow superheroes.
It is also not the first time that the fact that these actors participate in a private group chat has come to light. In numerous interviews with the participants throughout all these years since its premiere in 2012, this peculiar fact has come to light on several occasions and suggests that ‘The Avengers’ united these performers forever beyond the big screen.
