The return of Skate, one of the biggest sports game franchises ever, is set for 2025 as an Early Access title
EA’s highly beloved skating simulator, Skate, is set to make a return next year, although it’ll do so as an Early Access title.
The world of skateboarding has a long history in the video game industry and has left us with great franchises such as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, which is still very much alive in the memories of many players and has enjoyed new releases with a look at the past. But while the franchise named after the skating legend stands out for its arcade-style gameplay, Electronic Arts decided to go for a completely different style that players were not used to in terms of extreme sports: the most realistic simulation possible. Now, Skate is coming back, a fourth installment that was announced in 2020 and in 2025 will arrive in the form of an Early Access game.
The month in which Skate will be available is unknown, but it will be sometime next year. Those in charge of bringing the saga back to life are Full Circle, a new studio established by Electronic Arts in Vancouver, Canada. Its roster includes several names that created the original games and this time they are preparing for a game that will be released under a free-to-play model.
The most extreme sports simulation
Several years have passed since it was announced, but over time its developer has been reporting with different videos on the progress being made regarding the new Skate installment. Skateboard fans will soon have the opportunity to enjoy once again a saga that requires the most from the player, providing a realistic approach in which precision must be maximum to stand out on the board.
