Prime Video

‘The Rings of Power’ Season 2’s battles will be “ten times bigger”

The second season of the Lord of the Rings series on Prime Video, ‘The Rings of Power’, is aiming to showcase months-long battles on a grand scale.

El Señor de los Anillos: Los Anillos de Poder

The second season of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ is getting closer after a first season that did not convince many fans of Tolkien’s work and fantasy in general. To try to reverse the situation, those responsible ensure that the scale of the new episodes will be much larger, with battles up to “ten times bigger” that may extend throughout “multiple days, weeks, months and episodes”. This was stated in a recent interview with Empire, taking advantage of the opportunity to release a new image of Elrond in full armor in the midst of a battle, which you can find below.

A much darker and scarier Middle-earth

This is what Patrick McKay, one of the two showrunners from ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ for Amazon Prime Video, said: “We love a good battle. The plan with Season 2 would be to do something much bigger, on a much grander scale that would take place not just overnight, but over multiple days, weeks, months and episodes.”

On the other hand, one of the producers of the show, Charlotte Brandström, explained that this second season will be much more terrifying thanks to the emergence of Sauron, something that was already teased at the end of the first season, along with a faster pace by the arrival of different events directly related to the Dark Lord: “It’s really the battle of the darkness against the light, with some very dark and quite violent moments”, the producer confirmed.

Of course, Prime Video is playing a lot with the premiere of this upcoming second season of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’, given its very high budget and the cold reception of its season one; this next one begins on August 29.
