The season finale of House of the Dragon brings back two of Game of Thrones' most important characters

One of the most important moments of the final episode of the season features the future as a protagonist.

Among the many things Game of Thrones fans had to process in the final episode of the second season of ‘House of the Dragon,’ they were visited by ghosts from the future, indelibly linking the events of the two series despite the many years between them (some 172 years until the birth of Daenerys Targaryen, see the genealogy of House Targaryen here). Through the vivid visions that haunt Daemon throughout the season, Rhaenyra’s uncle and Prince Consort receives a final, definitive revelation.

Throughout the season, we have witnessed the character’s doubts about his place in the line of succession, as well as his bursts of pride at the idea of acknowledging Rhaenyra as his queen and accepting the secondary role of consort, which is what the visions he is having in Harrenhal, the cursed castle where he has been for some time, revolve around. But it is a final revelation that finally dispels his doubts and convinces him to bend the knee to Rhaenyra, convinced that only together can House Targaryen face the coming threat.

What does Daemon’s vision in the Season 2 finale of ‘House of the Dragon’ show?

These final visions give Daemon information about the future. He witnesses his death, knowing how and when it will occur, thus resolving the question of his fate. At the same time, he glimpses the threat that looms beyond the Wall, seeing the Night King and his hosts face to face, and then, next, a white-haired girl who the fire of a funeral pyre cannot burn, and from whom three dragon babies emerge. Yes, even though he cannot see her face, Daemon can also see Daenerys in one of her peak moments and as the last hope to face the coming horror. All these revelations convince the prince to put aside his arrogance and ambition and join the fight to consolidate his house, his blood, and his legacy if humanity is to have any hope.

Daemon even ends with the phrase: Sōnar amāzis, the High Valyrian equivalent of “Winter is coming,” the ultimate bridge between the two hit HBO series.
