The secret behind Diana’s design in Pragmata: a group of women who made sure she wasn’t “too cute”

Capcom reveals the real secret behind Diana’s design in Pragmata: “Diana Police.”

Update:

Pragmata has become one of the biggest video games of 2026, and part of its success is due to the father-daughter relationship that develops between its main characters: Hugh and Diana. Capcom put a lot of effort into designing both characters, especially the little android, whose creation led to the formation of a special team during development: the “Diana Police.”

During a special Father’s Day livestream, the game’s producer, Naoto Oyama, explained that they went to great lengths to make Diana feel like a real girl and not like a character who was “too artificial.” To that end, they decided to form an in-house team of female staff members whom they nicknamed “Diana Police.” This group oversaw both the motion capture and the voice acting to ensure that Diana’s gestures, expressions, and way of speaking were natural. For example, during the recordings, they instructed Japanese actress Nao Toyama not to “make it too cute,” but to speak “like a child would naturally speak.”

For his part, the game’s director, Cho Yonghee, explained that women find it easier to spot that kind of forced cuteness in female characters. In fact, he then joked that many men would probably ask, “What’s the difference?” That’s exactly why the creation of the “Diana Police” was so helpful to them.

The latest action game from the unstoppable Capcom

Although the race for Game of the Year seems to be more competitive than ever, Pragmata has earned its place in the conversation. Capcom has once again delivered a virtually outstanding game that puts a new spin on the action-puzzle genre.
