Konami
The Silent Hill 2 remake has been confirmed how long it’ll be a timed exclusive on PS5 and PC
Konami has revealed just how long the PS5 and PC timed exclusivity of the Silent Hill 2 remake will last, although there is no guarantee that it will come to other platforms.
The agreement between Konami and Sony Interactive Entertainment so that the Silent Hill 2 Remake has console exclusivity on PS5 is not permanent. The survival horror by Bloober Team will be able to reach other platforms when the agreed period expires. PlayStation posted a trailer focused on the specific features of the PS5 version, where the date on which the exclusive will end has also appeared. At the end of the video, you can read: “Also available on PC. Not available in other formats until 10/08/25″. That is, a year after its launch.
Does this mean that on October 8 the Silent Hill 2 Remake will launch platforms such as Xbox Series X/S or Nintendo Switch 2? Currently, there’s no way to tell. The date only indicates the moment when Konami will be free to release it on other consoles.
Previous similar cases can help paint a picture of what could actually happen. For example, in the case of Final Fantasy XVI, the PC version arrived more than a year after the PS5 version, while the Xbox Series X/S version has not even been announced, although producer Naoki Yoshida has hinted he would be interested in doing it. Currently, neither Final Fantasy VII Remake nor Final Fantasy VII Rebirth have been released on Microsoft machines.
A remake with plenty of novelties
The Silent Hil 2 remake is a completely revamped version of the PlayStation 2 classic. Unlike Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which is a remake that reproduces the original game almost exactly, this version of the classic survival horror implements gameplay changes and adds more content, which also translates into new musical themes by Akira Yamaoka, the original composer of the saga.
Horror will arrive very soon in the homes of players, since the title will release this October 8 on PS5 and PC.
