The Silent Hill 2 remake reveals where in the United States the town is actually situated
It’s always been a mystery, but now the Silent Hill 2 remake has confirmed where the cursed town is actually situated, and it’s a tribute to Stephen King.
Although the cursed town per excellence of video games is fictional, it still has tons of lore behind it, with its location being a tightly kept secret that we have all been speculating on specifically for years… until now. After searching and searching for hours, an insider of the industry has found clues in the remake of Silent Hill 2 which shows that the town is in a place of common nightmares for readers around the world.
It was the well-known leaker, Dusk Golem on Twitter, who found evidence that the town is specifically located in the state of Maine. This was discovered through a newspaper dispenser with the name Maine News on it, which confirms that Silent Hill is set in the same state from which the master of modern horror, Stephen King, hails.
Stephen King was not only born in Portland, the biggest city in Maine, but it is where he sets practically all of his novels. In fact, the most popular of those not set in Maine is ‘It’, which takes place in the town of Derry (in the neighboring state of New Hampshire) and is really inspired by Bangor, which is in Maine.
Bloober Team surprises with an incredible remake
After months and years of mistrust from some purists, the Polish studio has managed to respect the essence of one of the most emblematic survival horrors in the history of gaming, while it has also been able to add new elements without breaking its flow.
“The target of all kinds of ridicule, the developer has prevailed over doubts and hate with impeccable work that now appears on the list of the best remakes in history”, says the review of the game on Meristation. “It finds a delicate balance that preserves and enhances absolutely everything: combat, puzzles, exploration, and tone.”
Silent Hill 2 will be available on October 8, 2024, on PlayStation 5 and PC.
