The Simpsons take over Fortnite with record player numbers
Epic Games confirms a player surge not seen since last holiday season following the Springfield update.
Much can be said about when The Simpsons stopped being good or relevant, but the legacy of television’s most important non-prehistoric animated family is still felt. And this has been reflected in the latest Fortnite numbers.
The arrival of the new mini-season of The Simpsons in Fortnite was met with great anticipation, and according to Epic Games, with many players not seen “since last holiday season.” The numbers provided by Fortnite.gg show that over the weekend, there was a peak of 2.6 million players in the game and the activities that Fortnite Island, now transformed into Springfield, USA, has to offer.
An island full of Easter eggs and references
The current mini-season of The Simpsons in Fortnite has brought numerous references to the series, from Steamed Hams and Mr. Burns’ Mystery Box to the coach gag at the Simpsons’ house. With such a detailed map of Springfield, the reaction has been very positive among fans who grew up with the series.
Despite these numbers, there have been other activities that have attracted a considerable number of players to Fortnite. Only 3.9 million players were logged in at the end of the superhero season in August, and around 3.3 million participated in the Daft Punk Experience. It is worth mentioning that these were events that required a specific moment, so there was a more important factor in that if you weren’t present, you missed out.

Will they continue to add more details as the season progresses? It’s certainly not as detailed as, say, the recent Star Wars mini-season, but having more outfits or other iconic Springfield locations appear would set a great precedent for future Fortnite collaborations.
