The Social Network Part II is in development and will focus on how it has affected our society
Aaron Sorkin will direct the sequel to The Social Network.

The story of Facebook in cinema is not over, with David Fincher’s 2010 film, The Social Network, having a new production by Sony Pictures.
According to a report from Deadline, writer Aaron Sorkin has found the angle to continue, 15 years after the release of the original, this time taking the director’s seat. The report details that the film will be called The Social Network Part II, and beyond being a direct sequel, it will be a follow-up to the original film.
The film will take as its basis ‘The Facebook Files,’ a series of investigative articles published by the Wall Street Journal in October 2021. These reports, authored by Jeff Horowitz, exposed a series of internal company documents, revealing how Facebook, now Meta, was aware of the detrimental effects of its algorithms and policies on society, including their impact on the mental health of young people and the proliferation of misinformation.
Since 2021, Sorkin had expressed interest in a sequel, although he initially suggested that he would only move forward if David Fincher, director of the first film, returned to the project. However, time has passed, and Sorkin has taken the reins completely, confirming last year that he was already working on the script.
The new film project is in development with Todd Black, Peter Rice, Sorkin, and Stuart Besser producing.
Where to watch The Social Network?
While we wait for a confirmation from Sony Pictures about this movie, maybe it’s time to watch the original movie again. Although The Social Network is not currently available on any streaming platform, it can be rented on Amazon Video, Apple TV, and Fandango At Home.
Released in 2010 and based on Ben Mezrich’s book, ‘The Accidental Millionaires,’ the film was a box office success, earning $226 million dollars and winning 3 Academy Awards.
