The ‘Squid Game’ creator talks about one of the biggest surprises of the third season
A detail in the latest teaser trailer is no coincidence.

June 27 is a date burned into the calendars of TV lovers, as one of the most successful shows in television history is coming to an end. We’re talking about Squid Game, which will premiere a third season that’s shaping up to be a nail-biter, especially after the explosive ending of the previous season and all the possibilities surrounding the show’s conclusion. Among all the surprises, one of the most talked-about details involves a baby—with the character Kim Jun-hee pregnant and a teaser that included the sound of a crying infant.
Will Jun-hee give birth during the third season? Could it happen during the deadly game itself? Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk spoke with Entertainment Weekly and revealed that this element is far more important than it might seem.
An ending that won’t go unnoticed
Hwang Dong-hyuk notes, “You can hear the baby crying in the trailer, so people can expect there to be a baby. This baby plays a very important role in the third season—not just for Jun-hee, but for the fate of everyone involved. You can look forward to it.”

The final season promises to leave no one indifferent, and the creator also emphasized, “I wanted to include games that could really show the darkest sides of human nature, because the series itself is reaching its climax. I wanted the games to be extremely intense—to bring out the lowest depths of human behavior.”
