The stars of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ explain how the new show connects with the Netflix series

Vincent D’onofrio has revealed how certain elements of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ link up directly to what was shown in the original Netflix show.

Although we’ve seen ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ have many issues before starting production, the show is now well underway, and we will see the premiere of the series next year in 2025. However, fans of the Netflix series, where it originally aired, keep wondering what relationship this reboot will have with those first seasons. Will it be a hard reset? Or on the contrary, will it be a direct continuation? The cast members have spoken about it and cleared up some doubts.

This is how ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ fits in with the three seasons on Netflix

The confusion has come mainly from the open ending of the third season, since despite having a happy ending for the trio of “the good guys” (Matt, Foggy, and Karen), it is suggested that Ben Poindexter/Bullseye recovers from the three-way fight between Daredevil, Fisk and himself, making it clear that the villain still has a lot to say. Not in vain, Wilson Bethel is present again in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, in addition to all the main actors of the Netflix series, including the return of John Bernthal as Punisher.

“Deborah and I had a scene where we find an old box — am I allowed to say that? I think I can say that,” Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) begins by explaining. “We had a scene where we were looking through a box and we find stuff from the past, and it was real stuff from the past. It was stuff from the old [show]. It was like a photo frame we used on a set eight years ago and we were looking at it together — well, I wasn’t looking at it. But we were reminiscing over it, and it was sweet. It was kind of a little bit of life imitating art.”

Meanwhile, Vincent D’Onofrio is somewhat more explicit. “There are storylines that reach back to the original series: Where our characters are coming from, where we are, and where we’re going, some of those threads lead back,” explains D’Onofrio. “There is a shared character history between the two series, that gives it such texture. But at the same time, it can be an enemy, because that is the stuff that’s left behind you as you go forward and then you’re tied to it. I felt like the writers and [showrunner] Dario [Scardapane] did a really amazing job at finding a way for us to have our history, to have our connections, but not dwelling on it so much that you are tied to it the whole time.”

That said, will it be necessary to have seen all three seasons of the previous series to enjoy this reboot? “It’s a really tough job so I’m so impressed with what the writers managed to do by allowing us to keep that history but also present it in a way where it isn’t alienating,” says Cox, confirming that new fans will be able to watch ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ with little knowledge of the story. previous story.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ premieres next March 2025.
