The teasers for Avengers: Doomsday are not trailers, but clues about the future of the MCU: “Pay attention.”

By mid-January 2026, we already have four teasers for Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios’ next big event scheduled for December this year. Four trailers featuring some of the many characters who will be part of the stellar and massive cast of this highly anticipated multiversal crossover, resulting in a promotional campaign very different from the one experienced six years ago with Avengers: Endgame, whose first trailer brought the Internet to a standstill worldwide. Now, to continue to build excitement for an MCU in the doldrums—except for occasional blockbusters such as Spider-Man: No Way Home and Deadpool and Wolverine—the Russo brothers, directors of the film, have warned: “[They] are not teasers. Or trailers, They are clues... Pay attention.”

The clues to Avengers: Doomsday right under our noses

With the recent official release of the fourth teaser featuring Shuri of Wakanda, Namor, and the Thing from the Fantastic Four, the Russos have brought this first phase of previews to a close, confirming on Instagram that “What you’ve been watching for the last four weeks... are not teasers. Or trailers. They are stories. They are clues... Pay attention,” wrote the Russos, once again opting for cryptic messages that are already sparking the wildest theories.

Among the most plausible theories, the following meanings are being considered for each of these advances. The first, that of Steve Rogers with his baby: birth. The second, that of Thor: maturity. The third, that of the X-Men with Charles Xavier, Magneto, and Cyclops: death. The fourth, that of the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four: the afterlife.

Be that as it may, there are still more than eleven months to go—at the time of writing—before we can answer all these apparent clues present in the various teasers for Avengers: Doomsday, as we are reminded by the live countdown that Marvel Studios has set up on its official YouTube channel, entitled DOOMSDAY CLOCK. A video that only shows the famous countdown and brings together an average of about a thousand concurrent users at all hours. Of course, Marvel is unique in terms of marketing.

What other teasers await us from Avengers: Doomsday? We should still have a trailer for the New Avengers—formerly known as the Thunderbolts—as well as Sam Wilson’s Avengers, in addition to the rumored first official look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom with his own teaser. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18.
