The Times confirms the new favorite actor to play James Bond: “He has blabbing all over town”

Just when it seemed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson would be the new 007, a new actor famous for his personal life has become the big favorite.

Update:

We feel like 007 himself at the end of one of his dangerous missions. A great deal has happened since the last film in the series (No Time to Die, 2021), and numerous names have been mentioned for MI6, leaving us exhausted. At first there was talk of Idris Elba, then a film about the character’s origins with Tom Holland was suggested, later there was a global uproar over the possibility of James Bond being a woman, and for the last year and a half it seemed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson had it in the bag. Even the actor himself said he would do it “fucking well”! But nothing, the search for an heir to Daniel Craig’s suit continues.

Now, according to the prestigious newspaper The Times, the pole position has a new owner. It would be Callum Turner, a 35-year-old British actor who, according to the publication, has already told his friends that the role is his. We’ll see if he hasn’t jumped the gun, but he certainly has everything the producers of the saga were looking for. He is from London, young (for a long-term commitment), and not too well known in the industry, one of the requirements they wanted.

In fact, Turner is better known for his life off-screen than on. After all, he is the partner of famous singer Dua Lipa. His most important film and television roles are relatively recent: Masters of the Air, the Fantastic Beasts saga, and the recent charming romcom, Eternity. The information from The Times is consistent with what insider Jeff Sneider wrote a few months ago: “I’m told Turner is director Denis Villeneuve’s top choice; things are moving in that direction, although it’s still early and casting hasn’t officially begun, so no offers have been made.”

What do you think of the choice? It hasn’t been very well received online, with many commenting that he “has the charisma of a turnip.”
