The Warhammer 40,000 cinematic universe is officially moving forward with Henry Cavill as producer and star

Henry Cavill is officially producing and starring in the Warhammer 40K cinematic universe as the project has finally been approved, even though it’ll be some years before we see it.

After months of rumors and negotiations, it’s now official. Games Workshop, the company that owns the Warhammer license, and Amazon have finally reached an agreement to bring the popular universe to cinema and television. This IP that started with minifigures on a board has been expanding unstoppably to other media - including video games, books, etc... - until reaching audiovisual production. Now it’ll do so in the care of a confessed fan, and one of the most popular actors of recent years: Henry Cavill.

“The creative lines are established and we are all ready to bring Warhammer 40,000 to the screen,” they said in an official statement from Games Workshop. “It may have taken a year, but it has been a year well spent. And it’s been fun, debating the enormity of Warhammer, its characters, the story arcs... Of course, being careful when creating everything takes time... and trust when we say that everyone is involved and focused on doing things right”.

Henry Cavill will be the leader of the Warhammer project at Amazon

For this, as we said before, Henry Cavill has been trusted to lead what will be the television series. The British actor (‘Man of Steel’, ‘The Witcher’) has been a long-time fan of Warhammer, and likes to paint figures and enjoy everything around the license. He will be the protagonist and producer of said production.

“Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to start our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those up on high at both Amazon and Games Workshop,” Cavill said on Instagram. “That starting place shall, for now, remain a secret. Watch this space, though—more to come in time!” he says, anticipating that he will leave news on his social networks. Of course, all parties have made it clear that there are still years to start enjoying this universe.
