CD Projekt RED
The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will finally enter full production this year
CD Projekt RED has just revealed the size of the team working on The Witcher 4, and other details about the studio’s many projects.
CD Projekt RED is officially done with Cyberpunk 2077, a game that went on sale in 2020 surrounded by controversy, but that the studio has polished until its transformation into version 2.0, now with native versions on the current generation of consoles. After the launch of Phantom Liberty, the first and only expansion for the game, the studio has decided to change its focus and is now looking at its next projects. Besides the sequel Cyberpunk, known internally as Orion, the developers are also working on Polaris, which is the first title in a new trilogy set in The Witcher universe. However, neither project will be ready anytime soon.
The information comes directly from CD Projekt, which shared infographics about the status of its projects on Twitter/X. The first game in the new The Witcher trilogy is still in pre-production, while Project Orion hasn’t even gotten past the conceptual stage. Some time ago it was revealed that Sirius, another title set in the witcher’s universe developed by The Molasses Flood, suffered problems and its development restarted, so it is still in pre-production status. As for the remake of the first The Witcher, its creators are working on the concept.

Another graph dated February 29 confirms that almost all developers are immersed in the development of Polaris, with about 400 employees. 47 developers have been assigned to Orion, although it is expected that the number of people dedicated to the project will increase in the coming months. 37 people work on Sirius and there are only 20 developers on Hadar (a new IP).
In principle, Cyberpunk 2077 has concluded its content updates. CD Projekt RED already stated that they would not release any other expansions, despite initially stating that there would be two. Four years after its launch, the studio maintains 17 people on the project, since it is still possible that small updates will be made available to players. In fact, director Gabe Amatangelo does not rule out certain minor content if the developers come up with interesting and easy to implement ideas:
The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 are available with native versions on both previous and current generation consoles, in addition to the PC.
