Star Wars
This canceled ‘Star Wars’ game was set to feature one of the most powerful scenes of Luke connecting with Anakin
A snippet from Free Radical’s Battlefront 3 has leaked, showing Luke connecting with the past.

History (and Electronic Arts) took away the Star Wars Battlefront 3 that Free Radical was preparing more than 15 years ago. Its cancellation did not hide the legacy it left among the people who participated in its development. In recent months, an almost complete build of the Nintendo Wii version, including its campaign, has appeared on the Internet. This mode had some very important scenes related to Luke Skywalker.
Here’s the leaked Battlefront 3 scene where Luke connects with Anakin’s past
The in-game scene takes place in a fragment of the campaign where Luke Skywalker visits the planet Mustafar. If you are a veteran of the saga, you will recognize the location. For those who don’t, it’s the place where Anakin and Obi-Wan duel at the end of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
Luke feels the past; the echoes of the Force manifest to convey what his father experienced in his last moments of life as Anakin. We hear Emperor Palpatine give him his new name, Darth Vader. We also hear Ewan McGregor’s cries as Obi-Wan Kenobi tells his former Padawan, “I have failed you, Anakin. I have failed you.”
This phenomenon is known in the Star Wars universe as psychometry, which is defined as “the ability to obtain information about people or events associated with an object or place simply by touching or entering it. We saw this in practice during the “Acolyte” series, as it is one of Vernestra’s abilities. It is clear that Luke’s Force is intense, as was his father’s. This nice event was supposed to be a little nod to the fans, but in the end Electronic Arts decided to cancel the project.
There are wounds that never heal, and this is one of them in the video game industry.
