Dragon Ball

This is Cell’s fourth transformation by Toriyama that we never got to see

Cell in ‘Dragon Ball’ was supposed to have a transformation that Akira Toriyama sketched but eventually discarded.

Akira Toriyama’s work was not the only one that was released to the public. During his years as a mangaka, he worked on ‘Dragon Ball’ content that never made it into the final game. One of these unexplored sketches has to do with Cell. The villain was given a transformation that was never used in the manga and anime, but his creator imagined it on his desk.

We know what Cell’s fourth transformation looked like thanks to some sketches released by Shueisha itself. The differences are almost imperceptible, but the eyes of fans will catch the subtle traces that mark the change from his original form. His body seems to transform into a kind of praying mantis with two wings, one on each shoulder.

2024, the darkest for ‘Dragon Ball’ Fans

In March, the flame of Akira Toriyama was extinguished. The news of the legendary mangaka’s death triggered an earthquake of reactions across the globe, from ordinary people to the President of the Republic of France himself. Everyone was devastated by the loss of a man who had been following the greatest story of all time for an entire generation.

Toriyama left behind unfinished works such as ‘Dragon Ball Super’, which is now in the hands of Toyotaro. Other projects, such as ‘Dragon Ball Daima’, will continue without the master’s direction. His death also came weeks before ‘Sand Land’ was to be transferred to the small screen and video game. He will be greatly missed.
