This is the iPhone 16e, Apple’s ‘cheap’ phone that has an exclusive element within the range
Apple has released a short presentation of the new entry-level model in its mobile device lineup.

There was talk in forums halfway around the world. There was something, small but tyrannical, that Apple was cooking for the first half of 2025. Finally, the Cupertino company has pulled for a modest presentation, just over fifteen minutes without hype, which showed in depth the brand new iPhone 16e, the entry model of its range of mobile devices. We know everything, including an exclusive element within the 16 series.
iPhone 16e price, release date and other news
The new iPhone 16e will go on sale on February 28, starting at $599. Reservations will begin a week earlier, at 5 a.m. PT on February 21. From these details, we can build the image that gives shape to this new device. We must start by saying that it is designed not to lag behind in any of the star functions incorporated in the other models of its series, except for the camera control. Apple Intelligence will also be available on it, where it is already available.
The most surprising thing is that it debuts an unprecedented novelty in the entire range. We are talking about the C1 chip, the first custom modem for mobile phones designed by Apple. Integrated into the design of the device, it improves energy efficiency by extending battery life. It is expected that future iPhone 17s will follow this trend by incorporating it into their designs.

It takes the place of the third-generation iPhone SE, which for so many years has been the only cheaper way to enter the Apple ecosystem in mobile phones. The difference with respect to the launch of its predecessor is that it is now almost entirely equivalent in features to the interior of the current iPhone 16. It has a 6.1″ Super Retina XDR screen and, A18 chip with the same CPU cores (6) except in the GPU, which has 4 for the 5 of the iPhone 16. Video recording is maintained up to 4k at 60 frames per second with Dolby Vision, although it loses macro photography and ultra-wide angle.
In terms of battery, they promise up to 26 hours of video playback, while the 16 only reaches up to 22. It maintains USB-C connectivity. And no, the Touch ID of the original SE says goodbye to keep Face ID, the flagship unlocking of the brand. On the other hand, it keeps the novel Action button and will not be compatible with MagSafe. Nor will it have the dynamic island; the notch returns to the original design seen on the iPhone 13 backwards.
