Update:

Today we’re talking about ‘Annihilation’, a science fiction film starring Natalie Portman, as it’s one of the 200 films that have unexpectedly arrived on Prime Video. It’s a film directed by British filmmaker Alex Garland, the creator of ‘Ex Machina’ and screenwriter of others such as ‘28 Days Later,’ ‘The Beach,’ and ‘Sunshine.’

‘Annihilation’ premiered on Netflix in 2018 and received mostly positive reviews. The premise is highly compelling, as it explores existential horror and science fiction through the eyes of Lena, a biologist played by Natalie Portman who decides to venture into the Area X, a place controlled by what appears to be an extraterrestrial entity. Her mission is to investigate the area and try to shed light on what happened to her husband, a scientist who returned from the zone after being missing for a long time and was never able to remember anything.

With a runtime of 115 minutes, the film received mostly positive reviews (6 out of 10 on FilmAffinity and 6.8 out of 10 on IMDb). In addition to Natalie Portman, the cast includes notable names such as Oscar Isaac (‘Dune’), Jennifer Jason Leigh (‘The Machinist’), and Benedict Wong (‘Prometheus’), among others.
