TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is getting a new character, game mode, and more in Dimension Shellshock DLC

Released last year to cheering fans and critical acclaim, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is back with the announcement of new content in the form of the “Dimension Shellshock” DLC.

Developed by Tribute Games and published by Dotemu, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge was an amazing beat ‘em up title that called back and built upon the classic turtles games we remember fondly from the early 90s. With the surprise addition of playable characters like Master Splinter and April O’Neil for the first time ever, fans’ minds raced to imagine what other familiar faces would eventually become part of the roster. This new DLC finally answers that question with a shocking revelation: Usagi Yojimbo, the samurai rabbit from comics lore who eventually got its own series, is making the jump to video games.

The trailer above shows off this new character fighting against the Foot’s soldiers and other mutants, jumping in and out of portals while slashing the whole screen with his mighty sword. And those portals are not just random effects, but part of a new game mode called “Dimension Crossing”. Not many details about it have been revealed yet, but it seems like you’ll be jumping through dimensions, each represented by different artstyles from TMNT history.

“Dimension Shellshock” will also include alternative colors for every character, and will feature new music for the soundtrack from the original composer from the main game, Tee Lopes. This DLC will be followed by a second free update of which there are no more details besides the fact that it’ll add even more colors when it releases.

As of this moment, this new content still has no definitive release date other than “later this year”, but you can use this wait to comb through the trailer countless times. Every time we’ve done so we’ve found more and more easter eggs from TMNT history, including tons of characters that haven’t been seen for a long time.

The Dimension Shellshock DLC for TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge will be released on every platform where the main title is available: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PCs, iOS and Android.
