Tom Cruise risks his life underwater during the filming of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

The eighth film in the franchise is scheduled for release in spring 2025.

Ethan Hunt, and therefore Tom Cruise, knows no limits. While we are accustomed to seeing the 62-year-old veteran actor risk his life at great heights while filming the saga, this time he dives several feet underwater to prove that when it comes to taking the adventures of the IMF agent a step further, there are no doubles. Cruise proves it in a new image from ‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning.’

Accompanied by a skimpy swimsuit, Cruise once again shows his courage by foregoing any kind of stuntman, although he is accompanied by a diver who helps him breathe underwater. The actor may be forgetful at times, but he’s not completely crazy.

When does ‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’ premiere?

According to the tweet that accompanies this text, ‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning" will be released on May 23, 2025, and will be nothing less than the eighth installment of a saga that dates back to 1996. In addition to Cruise, other franchise classics are returning for this new film, such as Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby - who we will also see on screen in ‘Fantastic 4: First Steps’ - or Ving Rhames, among others.

At the time of its release, ‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’ will boast of being one of the most expensive movies in history, as it will reach a whopping $300 million budget. This would put it in a historic top 10 and put it on par with other productions such as ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’, ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ or ‘Justice League’, although still far from the one that currently tops the list: ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,' which cost $410 million.
