Tom Cruise to be part of Olympics closing ceremony with spectacular stunts

The actor has been spotted at the iconic Hollywood sign, filming the torch passing.

Thanks to TMZ and the media tagging of Tom Cruise, the final moment of the Paris Olympics, which always ends with the symbolic passing of the torch between the city that bids farewell and the one that begins its Olympic journey, is being tied up. As the 2028 Olympic Games will return to Los Angeles for the second time, after the first in 1984, the Syracuse actor himself has moved heaven and earth to take the initiative and star in this moment, to give it the Hollywood touch that he embodies so well, with two concrete actions that he has been orchestrating for some time, together with the Olympic Committee and other stakeholders.

A Hollywood-style flag walk

From what has been spun, the sequence that the Top Gun and Mission: Impossible actor has planned will consist of two parts. First, at the end of the Closing Ceremony, Cruise himself will rappel down the Stade de France to pick up the Olympic torch and fly away. This will be followed by a new video cut with a pre-recorded scene in which the actor will parachute down and land on the famous Hollywood landmark to pass the torch to the first Olympian and begin the journey that will bring the Olympics to the Californian city.

The closing ceremony of the current Olympics will take place on August 11, 2024, and it is one of the best-kept secrets of the Olympic Committee, so all this could be subject to changes and modifications. But considering the scenes that have already been filmed at the Hollywood sign, everything points to this scenario. We’ll see it at the end of a ceremony that begins at 2:00 PM ET / 11:00 AM PT.
