Tom Hardy says goodbye to Marvel with ‘Venom 3’: “this is me and the big guy last outing”

The star of the symbiote trilogy by Sony looked back on his 7 years playing Venom and Eddie Brock, and says goodbye to the genre.

It seems that the tagline ‘The Last Dance’ isn’t just a subtitle for the next Venom movie. Tom Hardy has shared several messages with a farewell tone through his official Instagram account, celebrating the seven years in which he has played the iconic Spider-Man villain in films without Spider-Man, all because they are part of Spidey’s irregular universe of villains by Sony Pictures and Marvel. Does this mean we can forget about seeing the symbiote in the upcoming ‘Secret Wars’ crossover?

Tom Hardy’s last dance as Venom?

The title of the film itself, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ already gives us some clue that the Marvel symbiote will not continue beyond a trilogy that will put an end to its adventures at the end of this month. Now, Tom Hardy himself has shared a post that points in this direction: “That’s all she wrote for me and the big guy we promise to make this the best of them all. We’ve loved making these. Thankyou for your love and support - come join us for the Last Dance. For those of you that enjoy a good time from all of us in the team - Let us entertain you

All this indicates that Tom Hardy seems determined to put an end to his career as Eddie Brock/Venom in the cinema, from which we can extract that his character will not be part of the upcoming ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ in which a multitude of superhero universes are expected to converge in the largest crossover in history.

Let us remember that the rights to Spider-Man and all his characters are the property of Sony Pictures and that the MCU has Tom Holland’s Spider-Man only after a collaboration agreement between Sony and Disney was reached. Of course, thanks to the post-credits scene of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, a small part of Venom stayed in the MCU, so we could have Spider-Man with the black suit ready for a particular Secret Wars or maybe also a new Venom.

Be that as it may, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ opens in theaters next October 25.
