Tom Holland talks about the filming of Spider-Man Brand: New Day: “It’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air”
Tom Holland promises a more “old school” filming experience for the new Spider-Man adventure.
Filming on Spider-Man 4, now known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is already underway. Except for a few leaks that have popped up here and there, not much is known about what the film will be about, but thanks to a recent interview, we know a little more about what to expect from the production of this film and how it compares to previous Spider-Man installments.
During an interview with Flip Your Wig, Tom Holland reflected on how different it was to film Spider-Man: No Way Home with the new installment of the friendly neighbor. It is worth remembering that the third Spider-Man movie within the MCU was filmed in 2021 in the midst of the pandemic.
“We were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID. We shot the entire film on stages,” the actor revealed of his experience filming No Way Home. “And now, we’re really gonna lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations. Which is why we’re starting in Glasgow,” he continued in the chat. “We’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we’re putting together.”
“It’s gonna feel like making Spider-Man 1 again,” he continued. “It’s been such a long time since I’ve done it that it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air, and I think the fans are gonna be over the moon with what we’re putting together.”
Spider-Man swings into the distance
We’re almost a year away from Spider-Man: Brand New Day hitting theaters, with a scheduled date of July 31, 2026. For now, it is known that within the cast we can expect Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, who will return as MJ and Ned, respectively, as well as Sadie Sink in an undisclosed role and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher.
