‘Tomb Raider’ is getting a live-action series on Prime Video by Phoebe Waller-Bridge
Amazon continues to double down on video game adaptations, now revealing that a Tomb Raider live-action show is on its way
Amazon has announced that a ‘Tomb Raider’ series is coming to Prime Video, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge (‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’) as screenwriter and executive producer. A project that comes thanks to an agreement between Crystal Dynamics, the video game developer, and Amazon MGM Studios. This agreement seeks to develop stories and expand the universe of ‘Tomb Raider’, starting with the television series, but wanting to also bet on the big screen in the future.
About the series, British Phoebe Waller-Bridge said: “If I could tell my teenage self that this was happening, I think she’d explode. Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”
Amazon bets on Tomb Raider with a series for Prime Video
In December 2022, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games announced a collaboration to develop a new ‘Tomb Raider’ game, whose title is unknown today, but it is known that it will be a single-player narrative action adventure with a new Lara Croft story.
Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, said she was “so happy to announce that we have ordered the epic, globetrotting series Tomb Raider from the incredibly gifted Emmy-award winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge and the team at Crystal Dynamics. Fans and newcomers can look forward to exhilarating adventures that honor the legacy of this iconic character”
