Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis reveals its release date and special editions at State of Play
The upcoming remake launches in February 2027 with three different editions to choose from.
During today’s State of Play, Amazon Games and Crystal Dynamics offered a new look at Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of the very first adventure starring the legendary Lara Croft. Originally announced in December during The Game Awards, alongside Tomb Raider: Catalyst, the game returned with a fresh trailer, new platform confirmations—including Nintendo Switch 2—details on its special editions, and a release date that, for now, still feels quite far off.
A modern reimagining of a classic
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a full remake of the original Tomb Raider released in 1996. The game aims to bring players back to the classic version of Lara Croft, preserving the core DNA of the original experience while completely reimagining it using Unreal Engine 5. The result is a title designed to meet modern technical and design standards without losing the identity that made the original iconic.
In an interview late last year, the development team explained that their goal goes beyond a straightforward remake. Instead, they want Legacy of Atlantis to stand as “a love letter to fans,” honoring the legacy of the franchise while refining its gameplay, presentation, and narrative for a new generation.
Three editions to choose from
Alongside the new trailer, the publishers confirmed that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will be available in three different editions:
- Standard Edition: Full game and Survivor Outfit.
- Deluxe Edition: Includes everything in the Standard Edition, plus 48-hour early access, the Parisian Fugitive Outfit, and a post-launch story DLC pack.
- Collector’s Edition: Includes everything in the Deluxe Edition, along with a premium steel case, a Lara Croft vs. T-Rex statue, a mini art book, a Croft Signet pin, and an Atlantean Talisman keychain.
