‘Toy Story 5’ first teaser trailer shares the threat of the new age of digital toys
Woody, Buzz, and Jessie face their most modern threat yet in Pixar’s next big adventure.
Pixar has released the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Toy Story 5. As previously announced, the new footage immediately reveals the core conflict of the film, introducing the challenges faced by the toys in a digital-first world. that the veteran toys in a way they have never experienced before.
According to the official press release, the new character is named Lilypad, described as “a high-tech, frog-shaped smart tablet.” This advanced toy creates a monumental challenge for the classic characters, as the narrative teases that Lilypad “makes Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs exponentially harder when they go head to head with the all-new threat to playtime.” Greta Lee joins the cast to voice the new high-tech toy.
A return of familiar voices
Fans will be pleased to know that the beloved core cast is returning to their iconic roles. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will reprise their roles as the steadfast cowboy Woody and the heroic space ranger Buzz, respectively. They are joined by Joan Cusack as Jessie, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog, and Tony Hale as the fan-favorite craft toy Forky, ensuring the beloved ensemble dynamic remains intact. Furthermore, the film introduces another new face, Smarty Pants, with comedian Conan O’Brien officially joining the voice cast.
Andrew Stanton is set to helm this new installment, serving as both director and sole screenwriter. Stanton’s deep involvement is a major boon for the sequel, as he co-wrote all four previous Toy Story films, in addition to directing acclaimed classics like Finding Nemo and Wall-E.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 19, 2026, and marks the 31st feature from the renowned animation studio.
