‘Twisters’ post-credits scene explained: will there be a sequel?

‘Twisters’ has become one of the biggest surprise hits of 2024 at the box office, breaking blockbuster records and, seemingly, with plans for more.

It’s been a long time since we’ve had big “disaster” movies reaching such a high success in the box office, but now that ‘Twisters’ has broken records with its epic scale and cast of incredibly attractive protagonists constantly put in the line of danger. And it seems like the people behind the production knew that they had a hit on their hands, as they included a post-credits scenes at the end that may hint at things to come.

Warning: As is to be expected, spoilers for ‘Twisters’ below

Explaining the ‘Twisters’ post-credits scene

At the end of the movie, Daisy Edgar-Jones’ Kate Cooper and her team manage to stop a massive tornado, which confirms their theories and turns out to be a major breakthrough for meteorologists that could save thousands of lives for those living in tornado-prone areas like the adequately named “Tornado Alley”.

Then we see Kate, Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), Javi (Anthony Ramos), and Boone (Brandon Perea) joking around, confirming their bonding and giving praise to Kate. As the credits start to roll, however, the audience is able to see pieces of Ben’s (Harry Hadden-Paton) article that the journalist had been writing throughout the entire movie. And while everyone in the gang is credited, it’s revealed that the main focus of the story is now Kate instead of Tyler and his crew, but that now she is working alongside Javi and Tyler to form a sort of tornado-fighting squad that is actually able to stop the natural disasters to save people.

Does this mean we’ll get a sequel soon where the team goes around actively fighting the sky? Who knows! But at least the filmmakers and everyone involved are excited to see the movie doing so well, so it’s possible that they’ll have more planned for the future of the now-franchise.
