Twitter/X will now fully allow porn and nudity to compete against OnlyFans
Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, has announced a change to how pornographic content and nudity is being handled to better manage that kind of content.
Twitter has officially surrendered to pornography, as confirmed by Elon Musk’s social network in an official statement. This comes as a surprise for many, due to the fact that in recent times this type of content has flooded the platform and appeared continuously, but now it is made official under the pretext of better controlling this type of content, which from now on must be marked with a content warning that anyone must accept before they can view it. Users under 18 years of age or those who do not have a date of birth on their profile will not be able to click to view flagged content.
The statement released by Twitter highlights that “You may share consensually produced and distributed adult nudity or sexual behavior, provided it’s properly labeled and not prominently displayed.” A decision that many people have expressed their dissatisfaction with, but Twitter allows anyone to report unmarked content or other types of violations within the social network as well as appealing against the decision made.
Porn according to Twitter
The social network mentioned in its statement that they believe that “users should be able to create, distribute, and consume material related to sexual themes as long as it is consensually produced and distributed. Sexual expression, whether visual or written, can be a legitimate form of artistic expression. We believe in the autonomy of adults to engage with and create content that reflects their own beliefs, desires, and experiences, including those related to sexuality.” In addition, they point out that they balance “this freedom by restricting exposure to Adult Content for children or adult users who choose not to see it.” The latter is important and, if controlled, can make many users enjoy the social network more than they have in recent months as it has been plagued with sexual content.
How does Twitter define adult content? Elon Musk’s social network understands it as “any consensually produced and distributed material depicting adult nudity or sexual behavior that is pornographic or intended to cause sexual arousal. This also applies to AI-generated, photographic or animated content such as cartoons, hentai, or anime.” In the statement they add examples such as depictions of “full or partial nudity, including close-ups of genitals, buttocks, or breasts; explicit or implied sexual behavior or simulated acts such as sexual intercourse and other sexual acts.”
