Urban explorers have found an abandoned underground set for ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’
A group of urban explorers seem to have found the remains of a secret filming set for the upcoming ‘The Fantastic 4: First Steps’ movie starring Pedro Pascal.
‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ is one of the most anticipated superhero movies of 2025, the debut of the First Family of Marvel in the MCU after the short cameo of Reed Richards by the hand of John Krasinski in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’. And even though its premiere is still scheduled for next July - putting it up into a fight with James Gunn’s ‘Superman’, filming did not end until a few days ago. But its production has taken place in many locations, including, apparently, a mine in the UK. Now, some urban explorers found an entire film set hidden in said mine with materials and props from the film; and these photographs are the proof.
A setting used by ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Mission Impossible’
This was reported by The Daily Mail, echoing the photographs shared by a group of urban explorers who entered this mine located in Derbyshire, 300 meters underground with about 8 kilometers of abandoned tunnels. This is a mine that is used from time to time in the film industry to film underground scenes; franchises like ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Mission Impossible’ have been known to use the location.
But returning to the discovery about Marvel Studios, these explorers took advantage of a change of security shift to enter its colossal tunnels, finding an authentic retrofuturist treasure used for the filming of ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’. So much so, that among the main production elements is a blue bus that looks like something out of the ‘60s, as well as other vehicles of similar aesthetics, in addition to a most mysterious map with a “Blue Moon” logo.
Is it the lair of the Mole Man, one of the villains of The Fantastic Four? Or maybe it’s a secret hiding place of the First Family? We will have to wait for July 25, 2025, to answer all these questions with the theatrical release of ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’.
