It’s been an open secret for a long few months, but last night Valve finally revealed they’ve been working on a new game called Deadlock, even though everyone already knew that.

Valve has finally made an official announcement for Deadlock, its new game about which the first details were known months ago thanks to a reputable insider and multiple leaks that made their way around the internet. Without notifying anyone and, practically in secret, the studio simply opened the floodgates by releasing a steam page for the game. Valve has provided very little information about Deadlock, with a teaser of one of its scenarios and an illustration of one of its characters, and although many people have already been able to try the game, official gameplay of it has not yet been shown.

When can Deadlock be played? As it turns out, people have been playing it for months already! They’re using an interesting invite system in which players who have access can grant users on their friendlists acces to the Valve game, which in turn lets them invite others to join the play tests.

Deadlock seeks to be Valve’s new great success

Deadlock is still in an early version of its development, and as highlighted on its Steam page, “lots of temporary art and experimental gameplay” is currently in the title, including limited localization and gameplay mechanics The game that some are currently able to test may have little to do with the final product, with Valve warning of the early phase of its development and since much of what the title currently offers is temporary.

There is no release date for Deadlock, so we will have to wait to find out more about a game that aims to be a phenomenon thanks to a proposal that aims to mix the best of hero shooters with the MOBA genre.
