A peculiar tremor approaches the world of movies and TV. ‘Skibidi Toilet’, the viral sensation on YouTube, is officially getting adapted into a TV series and a movie hand in hand with none other than Michael Bay, the famous Hollywood producer and director responsible for films such as ‘Bad Boys’ (1995), ‘Armageddon’ (1998) and ‘Transformers’ (2007).

As revealed by Variety, Bay plans to launch a television series and a film based on ‘Skibidi Toilet’, a viral YouTube phenomenon that has over 17 billion views and 43 million subscribers at the time we published this news.

“We are absolutely in talks right now, both on the television side and the earliest conversations right now on the film side”, commented Adam Goodman, the former president of Paramount Pictures, who is also involved in these new projects as a producer. Both Bay and Goodman have opted for ‘Skibidi Toilet’ due to the enormous audience it has amassed, so an adaptation in both series and film formats is practically a guaranteed success for them.

In this interview it is also discussed that The adaptations will be similar to the ‘John Wick’ saga and the film ‘District 9′ by Neill Blomkamp in terms of style, as well as the possibility of making it a hybrid between live-action and animation.

The ‘Skibidi Toilet’ shorts are videos made with Source Filmmaker, a piece of Valve software dedicated to the creation of animated films using assets related to the Source engine. There is no mention of whether this adaptation would need to have the approval of Gabe Newell’s company, since the YouTube videos of the “official” channel use elements of this company’s video games.

What is ‘Skibidi Toilet’ about?

In February 2023, Alexey Gerasimov, better known by his pseudonym DaFuq!? Boom!, uploaded to the YouTube channel of the same name a short video of a singing video game character whose head emerges from a toilet. This first video went viral, which led Gerasimov to continue uploading videos with similar humorous and surreal themes., although As time went by, it was evident that they followed a peculiar coherent plot line.

Little by little, a surprisingly complex plot was revealed in these videos., narrating the invasion of the Skibidi Toilets, which are animated toilets with singing human heads. One of the ways to kill them is by flushing the chain.

With each successive video the conflict escalates, and what at first are arrests and clandestine video-by-video operations eventually lead to large and multitudinous skirmishes and open war with Skibidi Toilets and gigantic “Camera Men” devastating entire sectors of the cities in their fierce fight.

Much of the merit of these videos and their good reception is in how well-produced they have become. The construction of the environments and the animation of the characters is good, which speaks volumes about Gerasimov’s capabilities as a 3D artist and filmmaker
