‘Visions of Mana’ will not be available on Game Pass despite featuring in latest Xbox Developer Direct

Square Enix’s upcoming action RPG ‘Visions of Mana’ will not be on Xbox Game Pass, confirms Microsoft, even though the game was featured in a recent showcase.

Visions of Mana’, the upcoming Action RPG revival of the Mana series by Square Enix, will be arriving to Xbox in the future, but it won’t be through Xbox Game Pass. At least not on day one.

A Microsoft representative confirmed as such to Eurogamer, admitting that at the moment there is no deal in place to have the title as part of the Xbox Game Pass library. “We’re aware that Xbox.com included language that indicated Visions of Mana was coming to Xbox Game Pass and can confirm this was an error,” they said. “While we are always updating the library and looking for new ways to provide members with value and choice, we do not have plans to bring Visions of Mana to Game Pass at this time.”

The statement comes after the game was featured in the latest Xbox Developer Direct unannounced, alongside four other games that will indeed be available on the subscription service as they’re all developed by Xbox-owned studios. This made it seem like the game would also be a day-one release, which was aggravated by the Xbox.com blog having ambiguous language that resulted in even more confusion.

Square Enix and Xbox are now working together

This is not to say that ‘Visions of Mana’ won’t ever come to the service, as while there are no current plans to do so specifically, Xbox and Square Enix have been publicly announcing their cooperation throughout the last year. A few months ago Phil Spencer himself took the stage during the latest Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest in Las Vegas to announce that the critically acclaimed MMORPG would make its way to Xbox consoles, with plans to have playtests very soon.

Visions of Mana is set for release at some point in “Summer 2024″, and it will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
