Warhorse Studios addresses Lord of the Rings rumors, says its next game will be a “huge, immersive RPG”
While refusing to confirm the setting, developers reiterated their focus on large-scale, narrative-heavy role-playing experiences.
Over the past few weeks, rumors have surfaced that Warhorse Studios, the developers behind the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series, are working on a ‘The Lord of the Rings’ title. Although the studio has not made any official statement regarding this project, a recent Q&A session on Reddit prompted the studio to share a few details about what they have in store for the future.
Does Warhorse Studios’ future lie in Middle-earth?
During the session, Reddit user Alone_Violinist2137 asked, “Is there really going to be a Lord of the Rings game?” In response, content director Ondřej Bittner replied briefly but precisely, “We cannot really disclose our future plans :) But we are staying in the RPG genre!” In response to a similar question, Bittner added, “I can tell you it is a huge, immersive RPG.”
On the other hand, Redditor Prestigious_Salt6498 tried to turn the question around, asking if the studio’s next project would be “a historical RPG” like its previous titles. In response, Bittner, while not confirming that it would be a historical experience, simply explained that “It will definitely be an RPG true to our colors—huge, story-driven, and immersive.”
Finally, Katastrophchen asked if there would be an “estimated timeframe for when we can expect some more news about [their next project],” fully aware that they wouldn’t be announcing anything during a Reddit Q&A. The official Warhorse Studios account replied that for now, “It’s hard to put a timeframe on the release of our next game,” but that “we’ll let you know when the time is right.”
Rumors of a game that would take Warhorse Studios from Bohemia in Europe to Middle-earth began in March 2026. The project points toward a big-budget RPG, but for now, the studio has kept its lips tightly sealed.
