Warzone is also getting Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s omnimovement overhaul

The game is about to change substantially for Call of Duty Players, and that includes Warzone, with an entirely new movement system.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is bringing some heavy changes to the series while also delivering in everything the fans want to return from older games, but it turns out that at least one of those changes will also be landing on Warzone itself. The new shooter’s “Omnimovement” system could completely change how the battle royale plays like once it releases alongside the game on October 25.

“Omnimovement”, that is to say, the new movement system and mechanics that will be the foundation of Black Ops 6′s gameplay, will allow players to sprint, dive, and slide in any direction while keeping their eyes on the action. Not only that, but there are also new and improved prone positions that allow players to rotate a full 360 degrees while on the ground, to let them be even more alert. In conjunction, this seemingly small changes actually change the speed of every encounter. “We truly believe that once you experience omnimovement, there is no going back,” said director of design at Treyarch, Matt Scronce.

This change will affect every aspect of Black Ops 6′s gameplay modes, from the story campaign and multiplayer, to the revamped zombies mode. However, it’ll also be present on Warzone once the game releases. We still don’t have many details about how the system will be implemented in the future, but it’s easy to imagine that the already twitchy gameplay is about to get even faster and more reactive.

Black Ops 6 is the most important entry of the series in over 10 years

We’ve already had the chance to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and we’ve come out of the experience completely convinced that it’s going to revolutionize the franchise for an entirely new era.

You can read our impressions here, but it’s easy to say that playing the first Black Ops in 2024 is an exercise in archeology compared to the progress of the Modern Warfare reboot. But Treyarch has managed to go above and beyond with a system that sets up what’s to come in the future. After playing Black Ops 6, the movement of the previous installments feels a bit less nimble. The extra development time is noticeable… and a lot of it.
