The live-action adaptation of Watch Dogs, Ubisoft’s hacking open-world series by the hand of New Regency, has confirmed who the main stars of the movie will be.

As reported by Deadline, Tom Blyth, who recently had a starring role in the Hunger Games prequel, ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’, has been signed on to star in the upcoming video game adaptation. And he will do so alongside Sophie Wilde, who was previously reported to have been in talks with the studio to act as the protagonist.

Watch Dogs gets another shot

The ‘Watch Dogs’ video game series has over 50 million players and explores the world of hackers fighting against oppressive forces in major cities around the world. The franchise has expanded into books and comics, with the latest game, “Watch Dogs: Legion,” released in 2020 moderate success. However, the series has not been as successful as other Ubisoft franchises, and currently has no announced sequel in the work.

For the movie, Christie LeBlanc wrote the initial draft, with revisions by Victoria Bata. The movie will be produced by New Regency’s Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann, along with Ubisoft’s Margaret Boykin. There are no specific details about the film’s plot, other than it is based on the games. Whether that means it’ll be an original story set in the world of the games or a direct adaptation of one of the stories in the trilogy is still to be seen.
